The new wiring loom finally arrived. As mentioned before AutoSparks did not send it to the updated address and Billy Bellinger was so kind to forward it. The new long (and freshly cleaned up) workbench was helpful for this task. After I unpacked the box, I decided to revisit the old loom again. The rear part looked easier to start off with. In addition, the fuel lines are attached to the same clips and I want to get this in first.
After stripping off a couple wires from the old rear loom that have been attached at some point I laid out the old and new pieces next to each other. While it is very close to the original rear loom it lacks the junctions and cable that ran just in front of the passenger seat (right side in my car) to the gearbox tunnel. On the plus side it has a white-purple cable running all the way to the connector to the fuel tank. The BS-AU7 British Standard Colour Code | Autosparks color coding says this is for the fuel pump. This is good because the new Facet pump will be installed somewhere close to the tank. For whatever reason the old one was attached to the bulkhead. The main loom however does not have the pin connected for the pump. But this can be added along with the Inertia switch I want to install.
After a couple of hours now trying to figure out the main loom – there are a number of open questions which I am currently still trying to figure out. Looks like I won’t be able to figure this out in 2020 with just 45min left to New Year 😉
