Coffee & contemplation (and T-5 again)

The day started early as I still have quite a long list of “last minute” tasks before being able to put the car on a trailer. I had the impression that today (Feb 25th) was the agreed date for me to bring the car to Solingen. We had a phone call in January which resulted in my vacation request and the pressure I put on myself during the last couple weeks. But since I did not get any reply on my email from last weekend (reminding that I will bring the car today) – I thought it is better to double check before picking up the trailer.

Good thing I did this, as they told me this morning that I cannot bring the car today. At first, I was a disappointed about this – but in the end it was good to “take a day off” from the Morgan project. The additional days are also good to have, as I speeded through several things. For example – I need a new oil pressure line from the engine to the Smith gauge. The old one was connected to the Morgan “one-shot lub system” – which I removed completely.  It was already not functional anymore. My father professionally “sealed off” the ends of the pipes going to the front suspension by bending them over. (Imagine me sitting headshaking here….)

I ordered a new nylon 5-foot line with two 1/8 BSH female ends from the UK – but this got lost in customs a while ago. The “item” I ordered from Amazon and that arrived just in time today, is a colorful braided 6 feet line – but the connectors are too short. The additional time also allows me to spend more time on fixing the windshield and dashboard.

Of course – the Morgan is still some way from being finished. After the technical inspection the preparation for the paint-shop and the interior will still require a significant amount of time. But for tonight I am happy to take a look back on the last 6 month – the journey of a plain chassis to almost completely reassembled. Tuesday March 2nd is the new deadline for the technical stuff now.
