TÜV worthy?!

Sure, it lacks a proper paint job, the shiny bits need to be cleaned and the interior needs to be done. Besides from this I the Morgan is ready for the technical inspection. Before I headed to the garage today I took the old dashboard apart. As I have everything on EconoSeal connectors – servicing or changing the dashboard is simple. For now, I am going to install the dash that I screwed up but works for the modified steering column. Using different masking tape helped to prevent chipping of the black maple veneer. Two additional blanks are now ready and I can work on those while the Morgan is gone.

The windshield is also back and secured. I used the roof and side-screens to find the right position. Looking at the pictures while writing this post I noticed that I forgot to put the mirror back on – not a big deal. Overhaul I really believe that the TÜV check after the technical inspection shouldn’t be a big problem – but let’s wait what the garage will say once they check my work. It would be really great to drive the car back from Solingen instead getting a trailer again.

After getting home tonight I proudly showed my wife pictures of the Morgan. Her first and very motivational comment was “With the roof on the car is really ugly!”. As I did not modify the Ford CVH 1,6l engine and left it stock – it will only have somewhere around 95 to 100 BHP – maybe even less. Therefore I already know what her first comment will be once she will do the first drive in the Morgan. She will say: “it is ugly with roof and underpowered!” – Yes this is harsh of her – but I can live with this (been doing so for 28 years now). Fortunately there is a simple fix for the two things my wife will not like about the car. The solution is also coming from Pickerleigh Road – I better start looking for a Morgan +8 now 😊

Tomorrow the Morgan can be rolled out of the garage and I can start getting the engine out of the Mini – the gearbox and diff need to be overhauled. Be prepared to see no Morgan related posts over the next couple days
