Deja vu

as my vacation ended this Wednesday, I didn’t have time to get back to the garage. Tonight I finally got a few hours and finished removing the engine from Miffi. The diff is leaking badly and the gearbox needs an overhaul. The pictures from tonight are very similar to the ones I took a year ago – when I put the engine back into the car. Overall the engine bay condition is ok – but I was surprised about the surface rust in the areas around the engine mounts. I will most likely just apply some black Hammerit paint after cleaning up those spots. Nevertheless the thought of quickly removing the entire front subframe and get it powder-coated crossed my mind.

When I restored the Mini I tried to keep it to its orginal specification from 1991/1992. Now I am really tempted again to put on a blue stage 2 cylinder head. By coincidence I have the old LCB and JanSpeed exhaust from the Cooper S I had back 30 years ago. I also recently got twin HS2 carbs on Ebay…. maybe I will just do a “stage 1” update – so just the twin carb with the LCB… to be decided another day πŸ™‚
