A difficult decision that has to be made

There are a couple of things I worked on today but right now there is only one question/topic in my head: should I take the engine/gearbox out again?

After somehow getting the engine to start my main objective was to find out why the gearbox sounds so strange. Both the engine as well as the Ford T9 gearbox have been oberhauled by specialist and I still believe that this was done perfectly and correctly. So I might have made a mistake when connecting the two.

The Morgan 4/4 with the CVH engine in 1984 has a cable operated clutch. I believe this was carried over from the earlier Kent based Morgan models. According to a post on the TalkMorgan forum I tried to get the slack out of the (inner) cable and that reduced the strange sounds it made in the beginning. But as the gearbox also really strange noises – I tried to follow the Gomog instructions for the CVH for the clutch adjustment.

Obvious result: I failed. No matter what I try the clutch does not disengage correctly anymore. I really wish that someone with more experience could have a look at and tell me what I should do. I called quite a few places – but they are all busy and I would need to wait for a few weeks.

So the only thing I could do is to talk the engine and gearbox out again and visually inspect if I find a fault. Quite a bit of work ahead I guess….
