Construction time again

Putting the brightwork, lights and trim back on a freshly painted Morgan takes time. Well, I take my time because I don’t want to scratch anything just because I rushed myself for no reason. First task of the day was to get the car on the dolly I built last year. This has 8 large casters (10cm diameter) in total and allows better movement on the old garage floor. It has a height of 35cm and the chassis sits on it- so the car is raised approx 23cm which is OK – occasionally I envy people that that a proper car lift in their garage.

The wire wheels suffered quite a bit in the paint-shop. Overall the car is dusty and dirty. I already cleaned most of it, but especially engine bay needs a not of attention. If I do another Morgan project I would either completely wrap and cover the entire front part myself – or pay a bit more to make sure that this gets prevented somehow. For now – I have to wipe of every single part. The woven bonnet tape was next on my list. While it worked out – I highly recommend to fit it to the cowl before you install it on the car again. The ends are riveted. It worked out – but it took me a bit of time.

Polishing all parts is another time consuming task. I cleaned all of them before, but after a few weeks in storage they need attention again. I also took my time to refasten every nut & bolt on the front part of the car. Most of the bulkhead screws were a little loose despite the fact that I have either lock-nuts of spring washer on each bolt. Tomorrow I will focus on the doors, screen and rear, before I will start looking into interior works…
