Wireless Sunday

the Morgan is “wireless” and off the road again. At least for a few days as I completely removed the loom and fuse box again. Frankly, this task wasn’t something I was looking forward to, but I am glad that I did it anyway. And a number of little things I did during assembly made the task easier than I originally thought.

I started on the right front wing and disconnected everything. The lights are connected to the loom via bullet connections and it would be better if the loom would be 10-15cm longer. All wiring clips are attached to the inner wings via stainless screws and I added rivnuts – this made it super simple to get those off.

The left side has a few more plugs. When yin installed the AutoSparks loom I already regret that I did not remove the inline fuse for the radiator fan. Since I plan to add an override switch to the dashboard – I will now also remove the inline fuse.

The wiper motor plug caused problems when I installed the loom. This time I decided to cut away a bit of plastic on the plug to make it fit through the hole. The dashboard is screwed in from the back and all cables are on connector – removal just took 10minutes – just as I hoped when I worked on harness 18 month ago.

There are just little things I want to change but I am glad I decided to take the wiring out. A number of small annoyances and things I learned I the last 18 months and now be fixed. Even better – I can do this on my garden table at home over the next couple evenings.
