After we inspected the 1970 MGB GT bodyshell (aka Project Molly) last weekend, I went through the list of panels I already bought and wanted to order what’s missing.
This is what I already bought over the last few month:
- 3 PIECE SILL KIT OUTER SILL, INNER SILL & CASTLE SECTION – Right Hand
- PIECE SILL KIT OUTER SILL, INNER SILL & CASTLE SECTION – Left Hand
- TOP SPLASH PANEL HZA302 HZA303 – Left Hand
- TOP SPLASH PANEL HZA302 HZA303 – Right Hand
- REAR WING QUARTER PANEL 1/4 MB36 – Right Hand
- REAR WING QUARTER PANEL 1/4 MB36 – LEFT Hand
- FLOOR PAN MK2 67on WITH DRAINAGE HOLES HZA628/9 – Right Hand
In addition the following panel are also needed:

- BOOT CORNER HZA160/1 – Right Hand
- COMPLETE CROSSMEMBER HZA464
- SILL END INFILL HZA260/1 – Left Hand
- SILL END INFILL HZA260/1 – Right Hand
These are (almost) all British Motor Heritage panels and there are a number of resellers that have them. Moss-Europe, MGB-Hive, Midland Sports & Classic, Rimmerbros and Sussex Classic MG Parts are all in the UK. Their online shops differ in maturity level but all have an acceptable usability. For the most part MGB parts can be easily identified by their original parts number. When it comes to BMH panels – the prices almost do not differ. Prices at MSC and Moss-Europe for all missing panels incl. 20%VAT is 713.20 GBP or roughly 855€.
In Germany the places I ordered in the past are Bastuck, Kischka, Limora and Stevens. Their prices and web presence vary quite a bit. I might be wrong, but had the impression that Stevens and Kischka do not supply BMH panels. Limora has the best and fastest web presence but also the highest prices. Pickup price for all panels would be 1123€. But on closer check I realized that Limora only marks a few parts a BMH. I need to ask them in this
Bastuck is the only official supplier on the BMH distrubutor list for Germany. On both orders I did in tand the money fohe past via the web-shop, something did not work out right away. Especially the lack of immediate credit-card or PayPal payment is something I consider a digitization fail. I also noticed that I completely forgot about my last order earlier this year – which was never delivered. Hopefully they will answer my email request – maybe this works out.
Maybe a little road trip to the UK is the better option after all. Yes, I would burn the potential savings in fuel and for the Eurotunnel. Hmm, I guess I need to find more parts I need to make it worth it …..
Hi Tim,
I would go for the trip to the island :-). In any case take the interior into account. Mirror trim is the best source. Very recentlyI learnt from Paul that they do not longer ship to Europe amd (possibly) to the US as well.
Good luck Andreas

Due to timing, cost and work I decided for Bastuck. They have the best price from all sources I checked in Germany for BMH panels. The GT A-post was not available here – but Rimmerbros had it in stock. More on the panels and bodyshell will follow shortly when I have time for a blog update 🙂
Cheers

Hi Tim,
another recommendation: as you are aware of (almost) all MG B rubber parts are becomming in issue. Main reasons are (a) availability and (b) quality. Take your time to source these parts asap – you will see why I come up with this matter :-). Some parts you will get in best quality only from Canada. But, bear in mind the guy behind this quality is in his 80ies. Don’t go for mail but talk to him. He is more than nice and his reputation is A+. Time is certainly a crucial point….
Good luck and best regards Andreas
