It was my first bigger “spare parts day” today. I heard and read a bit about the Autojumble in Beaulieu and was told that the Stoneleigh event is a scaled down version just for MGs and Triumph owners. And while standing in a 1 mile long traffic queue for the park entrance sure felt like it will be quite something.
There were plenty of cars in the parking lot and my son and I were quite astonished about the number of people looking for old car parts. Luckily it felt not as crowded inside the hall as people already spread out.
A novice mistake on such events is not to be organised. Even though I started on a list of parts I was looking for, I did not complete this in time. The last weeks I solely focused on my day job and considered cancelling the trip – but Eurotunnel and Hotel bookings were done and I was looking forward to meet my son in the UK.
The experienced attendees had checklists. It would be interesting to see demographic data on the the attendees. We saw at least four booths that had signs that said have clearance due to retirement. And the clear majority of the visitors were clearly in the same age group. It makes me wonder how a parts day in 2033 would look like and if it would still take place.
I just got a few small parts, some inspiration for my restoration and some examples of what not to do (see the primrose MGC). Next time I will better prepared and equipped with a complete list.

A great day out …… bought some parts been looking for a long time
