Unloading & CleanUp & NextChapter

As I returned earlier than expected on Tuesday morning at 3am, I used the afternoon to unload the Morgan. In the picture below I already removed my suitcase plus some other stuff – there was not any room left in the Morgan for eg. new Dunlop D-Type wheels – which are on my wish list as well. The two biggest items are a new MGB Maniflow Exhaust system and a Vitesse 5 speed gearbox conversation – I will write a bit more about both in the next blog post. Several smaller parts are for the Morgan. There is plenty of work and tasks ahead – I certainly won’t get bored this summer.

But most important was an immediate cleaning of the Morgan. Somewhere in Belgium I drove through an unusual large inspect swarm. The front of the car was so clogged that I had to stop twice the night to clean at least the windscreen. Out of experience I know – the sooner you try to get this off – the easier it will be. Getting everything back into nice condition took me four hours. After this my wife and I did a short round to a Biergarten a bit outside of Bonn to enjoy the rest of the evening.

Even though I consider the restoration of our Moggi complete after this trip – there is a seamless transition into the next chapter of FixingC6622. A number of smaller faults any annoyances need to be addressed. Most important one is the indication stalk (works perfect to the right – not so good to the left). Adjustment of the driver door is next. Some further changes on the dashboard are also on my list. The Morgan Owners Handbook say that services like greasing the suspension should be done every 5000miles (8000km) – but I certainly will this before our trip to Italy.

All of this is not super urgent – I have 6 weeks to tackle these points. More important to me is to fix some issues with Maggie. And the replacing the Tourist Trophy with the Maniflow exhaust system is the most pressing issue.
