2025 has been an eventful year with planned and an unexpected things happening. A lot of it was stuff outside the garage. This reduced my available time and with it, the number of posts on my blog. The Morgan (Moggi), the Mini (Miffi) and the 1967 MGB GT (Maggie) are all in reasonably good running condition. Sure, there are always repairs and improvements that can be made on a classic car. And 2026 will for sure bring a number of new tasks to keep the fleet running. Since autumn my son’s Saab 900 Turbo (Saabeth) kept me occupied a bit more than I expected. Getting this back on the road is the top priority right now.
For many reasons Project Mildred (the current MGB GT restoration) was not finished. But good progress has been made. About half of the required repairs and welding off the shell is done. Will it finish by summer 2026? Who knows? But I have some hopes. 90% of the Electrical design is done and the new wiring loon halfway complete. Like in recent years this is my winter focus topic when it is too cold in the garage. Actually one of my next posts about Wipers, Washer and Controls is closely related to this.
Mildred’s engine overhaul is complete. That was certainly a garage highlight in 2025. The plan is still to installed and test the engine and Mazda gearbox in Maggie soon.
For the first half of 2026 a number of trips, Rallyes and event are planned or scheduled already. A trip to the UK in the Saab needs to happen as early as possible for a few reasons. But it highly depends on when I will finish the repairs. In April (not booked yet) I plan to attend the 1st run of the Lew Spencer Cup from the MSCCD in Oschersleben as guest with Maggie. The Highland Games 2026 follow two weeks later.
In May there are two highlights. The “Morgan in Weserbergland” trip with my wife is something I looking forward too. Just a few days ago, my LeJog driver and friend Martin and I decided to also sign up for as well as the 46th edition of the Rallye Wiesbaden. Maggie will need a few upgrades for this, if Martin’s Mini Cooper is sold by then….
We will see what the second half of the year will bring. I really hope that assembling project Mildred will be most of my posts by then.
