Turning point

It is exactly 5 month ago that I unscrewed the first bolt on the Morgan. Today I switched from disassembly/cleaning/repair into “assembly mode”. It took 7 weeks until the end of May to take everything apart. The chassis, bulkhead, crosshead and some other parts came back from sandblasting and painting exactly 3 month ago.

A complete Vespa PK50XL rebuild and some family stuff unfortunately delayed the Morgan project somewhat by 10 weeks. But with the wooden frame disassembled, sanded and prepared for painting I finally came to the point to put the almost new looking chassis on some jack-stands.

Yesterday evening we hauled the rebuilt Ford CVH 1.6l engine back to Bonn. The T9 gearbox is also ready and waiting to be picked up from ClassicGearGarage. My plan was to just do one trip there of gearbox and rear axle that is also being serviced there. However it turns out that sourcing the spare parts for the 7HA Salisbury rear axle might be a challenge. Thankfully I got some recommendations from the TalkMorgan forum. Looks like some phone calls need to be squeezed into my office day tomorrow 🙂

I also picked all the small parts that where painted black today – including the fueltank – which looks awesome now.
