Christmas presents

Some new and used tools found their way under our Christmas tree and had my name on them. My wife got me a nice leather tool roll – equipped with “everything you need to an MGB”. It looks great and sure will come in handy for the planned trip in March. However, I am certain that I will need to upgrade the tools inside slightly. Nevertheless, an awesome present.

My son came home for Christmas from the UK and brought over a few presents I made to myself. A couple of weeks ago I found and bought a set of Mini and MGB special tools on Ebay UK. A guided reamer for Mini radius arms, as well as a used 1.125 inch reamer for Mini diff bushes and a used MGB king pin reamer.
Of course, these had to be tested right away. As the Mini40 project is more important right now I started with the radius arms. The guide in the roller bearing ensures that the bronze bush in of the radius arm is reamed out straight. After the first pass I flipped around the radius arm so that the bronze bush is to the side. I wanted to avoid that the shavings from the bush will end up in the needle bearing. The very last pass was done pushing the reamer outwards from the needle bearing side.

Now I just hope that UPS will finally deliver the new rear subframe for the Mini40 project. The tracking information shows that it is in Germany for 3 weeks already. I contacted UPS multiple times on why it is still in the warehouse – but still haven’t received an answer. It really must arrive next week so that I can get the project finished and out of my garage.
