Due to a business trip to Dublin last week and plenty of tasks – there is no big update. Just a bunch of smaller jobs. One of the MGB rear axles found its way into storage – the other still needed the hubs for the bolt-on wheels and finishing-touch of the brake drums. I used last Friday evening to clean the hubs with a wire-wheel. The inside of two brake-drums was also powder-coated and I had to grind this off with a Clear-Strip-Disc. With the surface rust and dirt removed from the front and rear hubs, it was time for a few times of black Hammerit- the contact surface for the brake disks and screws were taped off. After this workbench clean-up was required.
A test fit of the new Realm Engineering D-style wheels turned revealed that some of the (I believe) custom-made wheel nuts do not fit with the 7/8″ socket. The edges are too sharp and certainly need some tweaking. New tires are also required for those wheels. Frontline uses 195/65R15 Bridgestone Turanza T005 on the new BEE Electric Edition. These are also used on many Volkswagen models and have lots of positive reviews. Today I got the offer to test a set of used tires on my MGB and check if there are issues.
Due to a bad cold I was not keen on doing anything today. But I had to pickup the spare engine I brought along from my last UK trip and had to “park” at Stephan’s workshop for a while. With the Saab back on the road I had access to my engine hoist again. An old, cut-down pallet with some rollers attached is a perfect fit for B-Series engines for now. Hopefully I get the engine test-stand idea sorted out for this in the next couple of weeks.

I really like those wheels. They look perfect for a BGT. Can’t wait to see them on your car.

Tim I think that the engine should have been fitted into the FRONT of the car and not the rear hahahaha
